make-a-giftFor over 60 years, The Guardsmen has helped hundreds of thousands of at-risk youth change their lives and improve their communities through its scholarship and campership programs. This all-volunteer organization pilots a more engaged and productive society from which 97 cents of every donated dollar goes directly to the programs it supports.

1 Inner-city youth the opportunity to experience nature and learn about environmental stewardship and sustainability.
2 At-risk students an opportunity to benefit from the intense personal attention and private education they need to break cycles of poverty, violence, and drug abuse.
3 Bay Area schools and youth organizations the opportunity to grow and maintain educational and recreational programs.
4 Dedicated parents the help they need to guide their children from underperforming neighborhood schools.
5 Disadvantaged youth the opportunity for mentoring, confidence-building and training in areas such as nonviolent conflict resolution and community leadership.

The Guardsmen is in need of goods and services to ensure the success of its many fundraising events, including items for auctions, wine and food services and promotional support. Click the “Donate Now” button below to make your donation.

By including The Guardsmen as a beneficiary under your will or living trust, you can make an important and lasting gift for future at-risk Bay Area youth while meeting your financial and estate planning goals. A bequest can take many forms, and because a bequest qualifies for the estate tax charitable deduction, it may reduce your taxable estate. A sound estate plan, which includes a planned giving provision to The Guardsmen, can provide income tax advantages as well. The information in our Estate Planning Guide is intended as merely general information about planned giving instruments. Please consult your attorney or estate planner with respect to your individual situation. Download our Estate Planning Guide (PDF) for more information.

The Matching Gift Program allows you to double, or triple your gift to The Guardsmen. To participate, please request a matching gift form from your human resources department. Send us your completed matching gift form and we will notify you when your gift has been matched.

The Guardsmen is able to accept gifts of stock. To ensure that your stock gift is properly attributed, please send a letter to The Guardsmen stating your intent to give stock, with the approximate date of transfer, and type of stock.

cars-for-campersThe Guardsmen happily accepts vehicle donations through its Cars for Campers program. It’s free, fast and easy and the net proceeds benefit The Guardsmen. We accept cars, boats and RVs and your donation may be tax deductible.

It is never too early to consider a planned gift to benefit The Guardsmen. Listed below are some of the most common and easy ways that you can choose to leave your legacy.

Making a provision to The Guardsmen in your will is the most common way to make a planned gift. The provision may be for a specific dollar amount, a percentage, or a contingent amount should your beneficiaries predecease you. Charitable Trusts:

Consider creating a trust that pays you a fixed percentage of the trust’s assets or a set income annually.

Life Insurance Policy:

Naming The Guardsmen as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy is as simple as contacting your insurance provider and updating your beneficiary designation. Another option would be to transfer ownership of the policy to The Guardsmen, yet continue to make premium payments.

IRAs/Retirement Plans:

Making The Guardsmen the beneficiary of your IRA or retirement plan is also a great way to make a big impact. Again, it is as simple as updating your beneficiary designation.
