Looking Back at the 2012 Lawn Party

The Guardsmen kicked off Summer this year by hosting the San Francisco Lawn Party on Marina Green.    The event was a new addition to the Guardsmen fundraisers and generated a significant turn out of over 1500 people from all across the Bay Area.  As with all other Guardsmen fundraisers, the proceeds of the San Francisco Lawn Party support Bay Area youth with access to scholarships for private schools and camperships to Summer camps across Northern California.

The Marina Green was a perfect location for the SF Lawn Party and the event itself took place inside a 7.5-acre fence with areas for bocce, horseshoes, volleyball, croquet, and kickball.   The main event for lawn games was a 64-team Baggo tournament featuring heavy competition not only in the game itself but also team names and costumes.  The tournament was a success and teams battled all the way down to the finals wrapping right as the events were coming to a close.  At the center of the party was a stage featuring live music throughout the event.  Acts included My Peoples, Metal Shop and headliner Strong Like Bull with DJ Ajax providing beats between sets and wrapping up the event with amazing energy.

Beer and wine were flowing thanks to event sponsors Lagunitas, Staropramen and Black Star.  As folks worked up an appetite there was a section of food trucks lining the backside of Marina Green offering cuisine from cultures around the globe including tacos from Kung Fu Tacos, barbeque from The Rib Whip and crowd favorite Curry Up Now.

Special thanks to our sponsors including Hint Water!  The 1st Annual San Francisco Lawn Party was a great success and we look forward to seeing you guys next year, back out on the Marina Green to welcome in Summer by supporting our community!
