3rd Annual SF Lawn Party Event Recap

The 3rd Annual San Francisco Lawn Party took place on Marina Green Saturday September 6th, and proved to be a fantastic event with great attendance for the third straight year.    The event benefitted from fantastic weather and incredible views out onto the bay including the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin Headlands and Alcatraz – thanks to San Francisco Rec and Park for an incredible venue.

The event kicked off with the traditional 32 team cornhole tournament, including a jumbo cornhole board provided by tournament sponsor Chubbies Shorts where spectators could have their shot at holing a beanbag.    General admission attendees filed in as the tournament progressed and the music started with Pop Rocks hitting the main stage and rocking the crowd with covers ranging from the Killers, Hall and Oates and the White Stripes.  Pop Rocks definitely brought the energy and set the tone for the afternoon.

In between sets the crowd bumped to DJ Ajax and wandered the event layout with other lawn games on Marina Green including horse shoes, croquet, bocce ball and human foosball. Event headliner The Cheeseballs hit the stage next and powered through an energy filled set that got the crowd fired up and dancing.  The band has amazing versatility and played classics from SF favorites Journey to current hits from Jay-Z/Beyonce, Avicii and Daft Punk.

On the backside of Marina Green the event hosted food trucks including the talented crews from the Rib Whip, Kasa Indian and Tres Truck.  From mid western style brisket sandwich to vegetable samosas and carnitas tacos, the trucks were busy all day serving up a variety of food options for the crowd.    Special thanks to the Rib Whip for their third year of generous support to the SF Lawn Party.

The main bar featured beers donated by Lagunitas Brewing Company including their signature Lagunitas IPA and their Daytime IPA.   The Daytime IPA was extremely popular given the warm temperatures and paired greatly will the food truck spread.  The VIP bar was also a popular spot offering both Lagunitas beers as well as margaritas provided by Tommy’s Margarita Mix and decor from our friends at Kate Siegel Fine Events.

A special thanks to all of our other sponsors including Digital Foundry, Turner Construction, PCI, Jay Siegen Presents, Sierra Nevada, Staropramen and Sunbelt Rentals.

Thank you to all of our volunteers who contributed to making the 3rd annual San Francisco Lawn Party a huge success!  The team is already planning for next year and thank you for your continued support of Guardsmen events benefitting Bay Area at-risk youth.
