Why Support the Guardsmen?

For over 60 years, The Guardsmen has helped hundreds of thousands of at-risk youth change their lives and improve their communities through its scholarship and campership programs. This all-volunteer organization pilots a more engaged and productive society from which 90 cents of every donated dollar goes directly to the programs it supports. View our Major Donors Fact Sheet.

- Disadvantaged youth the opportunity for mentoring, confidence-building and training in areas such as nonviolent conflict resolution and community leadership
How To Donate
Matching Gifts
The Matching Gift Program allows you to double, or triple your gift to The Guardsmen. To participate, please request a matching gift form from your human resources department. Send us your completed matching gift form and we will notify you when your gift has been matched.
Stock Gifts
The Guardsmen is able to accept gifts of stock. To ensure that your stock gift is properly attributed, please send a letter to The Guardsmen stating your intent to give stock, with the approximate date of transfer, and type of stock.
Vehicle Donations
The Guardsmen happily accepts vehicle donations through its relationship with Donate for Charity. The net proceeds from the sale of the vehicle are distributed to The Guardsmen. We can accept cars, boats and RVs. Your donation is tax-deductible.
Planned Gifts
It is never too early to consider a planned gift to benefit The Guardsmen. Listed below are some of the most common and easy ways that you can choose to leave your legacy.
Bequests—Making a provision to The Guardsmen in your will is the most common way to make a planned gift. The provision may be for a specific dollar amount, a percentage, or a contingent amount should your beneficiaries predecease you. Consult your attorney for more information on the best option for your situation.
Charitable Trusts—Consider creating a trust that pays you a fixed percentage of the trust's assets or a set income annually.
Life Insurance Policy—Naming The Guardsmen as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy is as simple as contacting your insurance provider and updating your beneficiary designation. Another option would be to transfer ownership of the policy to The Guardsmen, yet continue to make premium payments.
IRAs/Retirement Plans—Making The Guardsmen the beneficiary of your IRA or retirement plan is also a great way to make a big impact. Again, it is as simple as updating your beneficiary designation.
In-Kind Donations
In addition to financial contributions, The Guardsmen is in need of goods and services to ensure the success of its many fundraising events, including items for auctions, wine and food services and promotional support.
